Book Your Stay

Please note neither the standard daily tariff, nor any of the special offers mentioned on the Montfort Cottage website, are available for reservations made via commission based web agents, including Late Rooms and Booking.com, as online booking fees will apply.

Reservations – can be made by telephone, e-mail, post or directly online.

Arrival Time – guests are welcome to check-in between the hours of 12pm and 9pm. Please state an arrival time when making a reservation to stay at Montfort Cottage, otherwise there may be no one available to welcome you if you arrive on an ad-hoc basis.

Should your planned arrival time change, either prior to or during your journey, please call us on +44 (0) 15394 45671 or 07885293176 to ensure the room is held for your later arrival.

Please note that on occasions we may not be able to guarantee your room will be ready if you are due to arrive before 2pm, however, you are still welcome to check-in before this time, leave your luggage and collect your room key.

Please also note we are unable to accept arrivals after 9pm without prior arrangement.

Check-out – by 10.30am on the day of departure.

Deposit – valid credit or debit card details are required as security for a reservation. We require the start and expiry dates (and/or issue number), the 3 digit security number from the back of the card (on the signature strip) the postcode and house number relating to the cardholder.

The following cards are accepted:

Payment on departure by either cash, credit or debit card. Please note Montfort Cottage is no longer able to accept payment by cheque.

Cancellation Policy – a confirmed reservation to stay at Montfort Cottage, whether by telephone, e-mail or in writing, constitutes a contract in law. Please note your deposit is not refundable under any circumstances. However, should you need to cancel your stay at Montfort Cottage, providing you give seven or more days notice, we will offer you a transfer of dates which must be taken within 3 months of the original date of stay (Bank and/or Public Holiday periods and Valentine’s are exempt).

Should you cancel your reservation with more than 7 days notice, you will not be liable to pay the balance. For cancellations with less than 7 days notice, or curtailment of stay for any reason, you will still be liable to pay for the booking in full, even if we have not yet received your balance. If we are able to re-let the room before the date of your stay, you will no longer be liable for the balance.

We recommend you take out holiday/cancellation insurance to cover this cost, as there are no exceptions to the above terms and conditions.

Allocation of Room – we will always do our best to accommodate requests for a specific room, however, due to the needs and/or constraints of the business, Montfort Cottage reserves the right to allocate guests an alternative room within the guest house, equal to or better than the one requested, should the need arise.

Non-Availability of Room – we would only cancel your booking if accommodation was unavailable for reasons beyond our control. We would attempt to offer you alternative accommodation, however if this was not possible, or unacceptable to you, then we would refund all monies paid by you. Our liability would not extend beyond this refund.

Damages and Breakages – please be aware that you are responsible and liable for any breakage or damage you cause to the property, or its contents, during your stay. Please take care and report any such breakage or damage should they occur. We do not normally charge for minor accidental breakages, but we may charge you the full cost to repair or make good any significant breakage or damage caused by misuse, or if you fail to notify us during your stay.

Liability – please be aware that Montfort Cottage does not accept any liability for any damage, loss or injury to any member of your party or any vehicles or possessions, unless proven to be caused by a negligent act by ourselves or our employees or contractors whilst acting in the course of employment.

Environmental Statement – we recycle all newspapers/magazines, glass bottles, cans, cardboard and plastics. We request that guests only put their towelling for laundering when absolutely necessary and they switch off all electrical appliances and lighting when not in use.

Montfort Cottage caters exclusively for over 18’s only.

Do your rooms have En-suite facilities
Yes. : Rooms (Grasmere, Thirlmere & Windermere) have en-suite shower rooms which include a sink, toilet and shower. (Kentmere) has a large separate private bathroom which is located on the first floor landing. The bathroom has a sink, toilet and bath (with an overhead shower attachment).

Check In: 12:00am – 9:00pm / Check Out: 10.30am
How far are you from the town centre?
Montfort is in a perfect location just 10 minute walk from either Windermere and Bowness and their abundance of shops, restaurants and traditional pubs.
What time do you serve breakfast?
Breakfast at Montfort Cottage is a leisurely affair, served every morning between 8.30am and 9.15am in our Breakfast Room, and is something to really look forward to during your stay.
Can you recommend anywhere for evening meals?

Do you have parking access?
Free roadside parking is available outside the property.
Are pets allowed?
Sorry, no. We do not allow pets at Montfort Cottage.
